A new piccolo piece was commissioned in 2023 by Sarah Miller (https://www.sarahmillerpiccflute.com/). It is soon to be released on Sarah’s debut CD and “Taken Voice” is the title track of the CD. It was such a huge pleasure writing this for Sarah and enabled me to get in touch with my imaginary Cornish roots! I am so looking forward to this being released and to attending the premiere in Bruges in May/June 2024. Here are a couple of images of the piece which is scored for piccolo, optional narrator and piano. When Sarah was working on the piece with me the idea for a composition with narrator was evident from the start.
